Sports Therapy Technology
The Watt Bike is an invaluable tool for assessing and monitoring biomechanical patterns and imbalances. It provides precise data on the distribution of pressure between the left and right legs, allowing us to identify any asymmetries or abnormalities in force application. This capability is particularly beneficial for post-injury rehabilitation, enabling us to track progress and address issues arising from surgeries such as nerve damage, hip replacements, and knee surgeries. By analysing force distribution, we can tailor treatment plans to optimize recovery and prevent future complications.
The Handheld Dynamometer is instrumental in quantifying muscle strength and assessing functional capabilities during rehabilitation. By measuring the forces generated by specific muscle groups, we gain valuable insights into the effectiveness of treatment interventions and the progression of recovery. This technology plays a crucial role in determining an individual's readiness to return to sport post-injury, as it allows us to pinpoint any weaknesses or deficits that may increase the risk of reinjury. With the ability to accurately track strength gains over time, we can customise rehabilitation programs to target areas of weakness and facilitate optimal performance outcomes. Tilly uses this device to ensure we can see progress and return to sports safely to avoid reinjury, post-ACL surgery.
Our clinic utilises Compression Cuffs, specifically Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Cuffs, as part of our advanced rehabilitation protocols. These cuffs apply controlled pressure to limbs, temporarily restricting blood flow during exercise. BFR represents a way to decrease stress on joints without compromising strength gains and helps accelerate recovery and prevent muscle atrophy in postoperative or injured individuals.
At Specialist Sports Therapy, we utilise Compex Muscle Stimulation technology to enhance our rehabilitation programs. We have the Compex 8.0 for in-clinic use and two Compex Fit 1.0 units available for patient hire. Compex Muscle Stimulation is renowned for its effectiveness in post-surgical recovery, pain management, and enhancing muscle performance.
Compex 8.0: Used in our clinic, this advanced muscle stimulator is particularly beneficial for post-surgery recovery. It helps in reducing muscle atrophy, improving muscle strength, and enhancing the recovery process by stimulating muscle fibers with electrical impulses. Patients often find significant relief and improved functionality with its use.
Compex Fit 1.0: Available for hire, these units allow patients to continue their muscle stimulation therapy at home. This is ideal for maintaining muscle activation, reducing pain, and accelerating recovery between clinic visits.
Compex helps in managing both acute and chronic pain by blocking pain signals and promoting endorphin release.
Improved Recovery: By enhancing blood flow and reducing muscle soreness, Compex accelerates the recovery process.
Muscle Strengthening: It aids in muscle strengthening by activating muscle fibers that are difficult to target with traditional exercises, particularly after surgery or injury.
Regular use can improve muscle endurance, strength, and overall performance for athletes and active individuals.
